Para atingir este objectivo ser\u00e3o utilizadas de forma complementar diversas t\u00e9cnicas experimentais e computacionais. Em particular, ser\u00e3o utilizadas a espectroscopia vibracional de Raman e de Infravermelho, espectroscopia de Resson\u00e2ncia Magn\u00e9tica Nuclear, pela sua capacidade para detectar a associa\u00e7\u00e3o de mol\u00e9culas em l\u00edquidos, e c\u00e1lculos de orbitais moleculares de tipo\u00a0<i>ab initio<\/i>\u00a0para obter informa\u00e7\u00e3o relativa \u00e0 estrutura poss\u00edvel dos d\u00edmeros e agregados. A cristalografia de raios-X e a Dispers\u00e3o Inel\u00e1stica de Neutr\u00f5es ser\u00e3o utilizadas para fornecer informa\u00e7\u00e3o complementar para alguns sistemas em fase s\u00f3lida.<br \/>\nA exist\u00eancia de liga\u00e7\u00f5es de hidrog\u00e9nio C-H\u00b7\u00b7\u00b7O em compostos em fase l\u00edquida ser\u00e1 investigada para um elevado n\u00famero de compostos, com diferentes tipos de liga\u00e7\u00f5es C-H. A capacidade de uma liga\u00e7\u00e3o C-H para participar numa liga\u00e7\u00e3o de hidrog\u00e9nio depende da estrutura molecular na sua vizinhan\u00e7a. As liga\u00e7\u00f5es C-H de grupos metilo n\u00e3o formam liga\u00e7\u00f5es C-H\u00b7\u00b7\u00b7O fortes, mas podem ser activadas pela presen\u00e7a de grupos electronegativos vizinhos. Os compostos que cont\u00eam as estruturas N=CH-C ou C=C-N s\u00e3o particularmente interessantes, em virtude de estas estruturas se encontrarem em componentes de \u00e1cidos nucleicos e prote\u00ccnas.<br \/>\nA import\u00e2ncia das liga\u00e7\u00f5es de hidrog\u00e9nio C-H\u00b7\u00b7\u00b7O em estruturas no estado s\u00f3lido \u00e9 actualmente amplamente reconhecida. Contudo, \u00e8 bastante escassa a informa\u00e7\u00e3o existente acerca do papel deste tipo de liga\u00e7\u00f5es para sistemas em fase l\u00edquida.
