O Ricardo adquiriu grande parte da sua experi\u00eancia em Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica em \u00e1reas ligadas ao estudo da parede celular vegetal, principalmente com o objetivo de utilizar recursos de biomassa lenhinocelul\u00f3sica para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de produtos economicamente relevantes. Desde a sua entrada na Unidade de I&amp;D Qu\u00edmica-F\u00edsica Molecular, o Ricardo tem vindo a trabalhar em v\u00e1rios projetos relacionados com o estudo de fitoqu\u00edmicos. Atualmente, \u00e9 o Investigador Respons\u00e1vel (IR) pelo projeto <a href=\"http:\/\/qfm.uc.pt\/projetos\/pinewallpt\/\" data-wplink-url-error=\"true\">PineWALL<\/a>, que visa entender qual a implica\u00e7\u00e3o da composi\u00e7\u00e3o e estrutura da parede celular do pinheiro na resist\u00eancia ao nem\u00e1todo da madeira do pinheiro. Para al\u00e9m disso, o Ricardo tem tamb\u00e9m trabalhado no estudo de fitoqu\u00edmicos de plantas mar\u00edtimas end\u00f3genas, com vista \u00e0 sua valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o como novos ingredientes alimentares e\/ou nutrac\u00eauticos.
